Quartz OA Focus groups

Quartz Open Access에서 Focus Groups을 실시한다. (2020.11.20, 11.27, 12.4) ( ←왜 금요일이냐고!)

 

주제는 세 가지로, 1) 동료심사의 공정한 보상, 2) 저널 지불, 3) 저자 지불이다.

2. Journal payments,  27 November 2020, at 10h00 CEST - How can we fairly distribute donations among journals? should we have different incentives and prices depending on their status? (commercial/not-for-profit, gold OA vs diamond OA vs subscription journals)? 
   - 저널 지불 : 저널간의 기부금을 어떻게 공정하게 나눌 수 있을까? 저널의 상태(상업용, 비영리, 골드OA vs 다이아몬드OA vs 구독저널)에 따라 인센티브와 금액을 다르게 해야 할까?

Quartz OA ?

Decentralized Science team has recently launched Quartz Open Access, a new initiative in the academic publishing field. Quartz OA proposes the use of a community currency and a system of online micropayments for the members of the academic community. This will enable easy donations for journals and researchers, as well as voluntary micropayments from readers to the authors, reviewers and Open Access journals of academic articles. Our ultimate goal is to allow the OA community members to support each other and thus to provide a sustainable Open Access funding model.

 

Quartz의 Decentralized Science team이 학술출판 분야에 새로운 이니셔티브인 Quartz Open Access를 새롭게 시작했다. Quartz OA는 학술커뮤니티 구성원들을 위해 커뮤니티 통화(currency)와 온라인 소액결제시스템의 사용을 제안한다.

이것은 저널과 연구자에게 쉽게 기부할 수 있고, 독자에서부터 저자, 리뷰어 그리고 OA 저널과 학술논문에 자발적으로 소액 지불을 가능하게 한다. 우리의 궁극적인 목표는 OA 커뮤니티 구성원들이 서로를 지지해서 지속가능한 OA 펀딩 모델을 제공하도록 허용하는 것이다.

새로운 발상이다. 나는 이제까지 OA의 지원금은 연구기금기관이나 정부에서 나온다고 생각했는데, 이제는 학술 커뮤니티 구성원들간의 기부와 소액결제라니... 이렇게 서로 기부/결제를 통해 OA가 활성화되는 것은 좋은데, 1) 기부가 쉽게 될까? (이건 1, 3번째 focus group에서 논의될 듯 하다) 2) 상업 출판사들은 어떻게 되려나? (이것은 2번째 focus group인 jounarls payments에서 논의될 듯 하다) 

게다가 focus group을 이렇게 공개적으로 모집하는 것도 신기하다. FGI는 유사한 성격을 지닌 사람들을 리쿠르팅해서 서로 논의하게 하는 것인데, 어떤 사람이 참가할지 모르고 모집하면 나처럼 주변인물이 참가하게 되는 역효과가 날텐데. :)
